Reissued Loaner Textbook Late Fees Policy
by Julian Aiken - Monday, 9 September 2013, 09:46 AM

Reissued Loaner Textbook Late Fees Policy

Reissued loaner textbooks returned after the due date (the last day of class) will no longer accrue a late fee of $.10 per day/max. $5.00 .

Students are still responsible for the replacement cost and a $10.00 processing fee for the non-return of loaner textbooks .

ECPI campuses use the library system to circulate loaner textbooks for quality inventory control. Late fees will remain a standard policy for library materials, but loaner textbooks will not accrue late fees.

Inclement Weather Policy Raleigh Campus

ECPI Inclement Weather Policy

Student Action Required

Students will still be responsible for all the material that is required to be covered in the course and/or during any missed sessions. Therefore, as when students miss for any purpose we encourage you to contact your instructors preferably by email to secure information about missed assignments and material so that when you return to class you have not fallen behind. Instructors provide their contact information the first day of class however, all instructors can be reached at their ECPI email address which is normally the first letter on their first name, their last name @ecpi.edu.

Background

As a post secondary institution we must hold class a specified number of clock/class hours each 5 week term to award the class credits to the attending students. Should we close the campus we are required to schedule make-up time during the current term which can interfere with daycare and employment schedules. Therefore, since the majority of our students are working adults we use our best judgment to keep the original schedule in tact even when inclement weather is forecasted and rely on the students and faculty to use their judgment as to what is safe travel in their circumstances, as we have students traveling as far south as Fayetteville and as far north as the Virginia state line to attend ECPI Raleigh all with different weather/road conditions.

We do post on 3 TV channels (WRAL, ABC, NBC), as well as Moodle and voice message on 571-0057 our plans for campus hours due to inclement weather.

I must clarify we do not delay or close solely based upon county schools decisions to delay or close.

On behalf of the education department we hope this communication eases your concerns and stress in regards to any attendance challenges this term due to the recent weather conditions.
